Unique Timber Frame Solutions to Fit Your Property & Goals

At the Pennsylvania Sawmill Company, we believe in building better –– not just for today, but for generations to come. That’s why every beam we cut starts with responsibly harvested timber – 90% of which comes from within 50 square miles of our mill locations here in the Northeastern United States. No overseas freight. No long-distance hauling. Just truly local timber, milled with care and a commitment to a low carbon footprint.

We specialize in Eastern White Pine and Douglas Fir. Each beam is cut to order, allowing you to choose the finish that fits your project –– from planed-smooth to skip-sanded, or even hatchet-distressed for a rustic, time-worn appearance.

Timberframe Structures

We love exploring unique solutions to fit your property and goals! We offer a wide range of design options and customization features, allowing you to create a structure that perfectly suits your needs and style. Create your dream outdoor living space with a Timber Frame structure – ie. Pergola, Pavilion, Rear Porch Cover – even a Carport!

Post & Beam Packages

We custom-cut Eastern White Pine & Eastern Hemlock. Our boards and beams are available in 2′ increments between 8-26′ increments. Longer lengths are possible but may require specialty sourcing. Logs are locally sourced from the forests of Central PA. Our lumber is available starting as green/rough sawn, or processed to include kiln drying and with skip-sanding or surface planing to nominal dimensions.

An Overview of Our Custom Truss / Structure Process

Our custom structures and trusses begin… with a discussion surrounding your design goals and budget, and often include an exchange of concept sketches or photos to establish project goals

Once the goals and budget are agreed upon… we’ll formally quote your job and request a 50% deposit to produce shop drawings.  Upon your approval of our shop drawing, we work with an engineer to review and seal your plans to confirm the necessary structural calculations.  After engineering is complete, your plans will be sent to our shop floor for fabrication.

Please keep in mind…the process may take as long as 8-12 weeks during production peak times, so patience and planning ahead are good to keep in mind when considering a personalized custom structure from our workshop!
